CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
A gentle yet highly effective method developed by osteopaths of evaluating and enhancing the function of one of the body's physiological systems called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord that influence the body as a whole. Using a soft touch, practitioners hone into and release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the function of the central nervous system.
NeuroKinetic Therapy® (NKT)
A corrective movement and manual muscle testing technique that employs a system of precise motion tests that have the ability to re-program and restore the Motor Control Center (MCC) in the brain (cerebellum) back to a healthier more efficient functional pattern. The MCC coordinates movement patterns in the body. NKT is a sophisticated bodywork modality that can be used as an assessment, pre-habilitation or rehabilitation technique to clean up and/or reestablish proper brain and body communication resulting in decreased pain and increased function.
Neural Manipulation Therapy
The Nervous System is involved in all body functions. The stimulation of nerves is processed centrally (in the brain) and reported back to the body as a neural feedback loops. Generally, one thinks of a physical trauma as a single severe injury or accident that causes damage. However, in reality we encompass different gradients of external forces acting on the body daily that can lead to a build up of accumulated stress (micro traumas) on the tissue and structures of your nerves. For example, not every joint trauma leads to a fracture or dislocation, which is verifiable by x-ray. Yet that transmission of force or energy has to go somewhere. From a traditional standpoint, people are often considered to be perfectly fine, even though they are not at all the same as they were before sustaining the trauma/injury (or the accumulation of micro traumas, think the straw that broke the camels back). Traumatic nerve lesions (micro traumas) typically do not result in a recognizable, well defined, clinical imaging notable on an x-ray or MRI. Instead a broad spectrum of disturbances can be found throughout the body and symptoms are often overlooked. Hands-on manual neural therapies are gentle non invasive approaches that can help clean out the accumulation of micro traumas living within the network of nerves of the central and peripheral nervous system.
Manual Articular Therapy
"Articular" refers to the joints. Joints receive and emit signals throughout the brain and body. MAT is a manual therapy that applies a comprehensive approach to the treatment of joints. A joint is so much more complex than just a place where bones come together. It is comprised of multiple components (including bone, cartilage, arteries, tendons, ligaments, nerves, capsules and fluid) that when functioning properly, allow the joint to glide smoothly and pain-free. If one component becomes problematic, the entire joint begins to compensate and not function properly. This leads to dysfunction ranging from temporary pain to longer term damage. All parts and systems within the body are interconnected (joints included) and when there is dysfunction in one place, other areas can be negatively impacted. Particularly with joint pain, symptoms can be referred pain from another part of the body. MAT helps identify and address the source of the disharmony in a non-invasive gentle yet effective approach. This results in the body as a whole becomes less bound by dysfunctional patterns, by addressing the affected area and ultimately allowing the body to achieve a state of balanced action and harmony within the joint, improving the body’s overall ability to heal and restore itself back to optimal health and movement.
Visceral Manipulation
Developed and studied by osteopaths in Europe is a therapy used to locate and resolve problems and patterns throughout the body as a whole. It encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to improve the functioning of your organs, dissipate the negative effects of stress, enhance mobility of the musculoskeletal system through the connective tissue attachments, and influence general metabolic health. VM assists functional and structural imbalances throughout the body including musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive and lymphatic dysfunction. It evaluates and address’ the dynamics of motion and suspension in relation to organs, membranes, fascia and ligaments. VM increases proprioceptive communication within the body, thereby revitalizing a person and relieving symptoms of pain, dysfunction, and poor posture.
